You probably already know a volunteer - a friend or neighbor who is always willing to lend a hand! For example:
a youth who demonstrates leadership in their school
a coach who demonstrates outstanding commitment to a sport team
a person who goes above and beyond for an event or organization's board of directors
How do we say Thanks?
Volunteers make all of our lives better and the Southeast Connection's Awards are a way to thank them for their work. Every year, the Southeast Connection Awards Program calls for nominations from community members to recognize the achievements and contributions made by volunteers.
How does the Awards Program work?
Anybody can nominate an individual whose voluntary work strengthens and enriches life in the community through sport, culture and recreation. Recipients must reside within the boundaries of the southeast District. Awards will not be made posthumously. Your community must choose a date and a venue in which to present the award to the recipient.
All nominations will be reviewed by an Awards Committee made up of representatives appointed by Southeast Connection. The Committee will follow an established evaluation guideline, including, but not limited to:
The duration and impact of the volunteerism
The number of years, months, and approximate number of volunteer hours the nominee committed to the activity;
The uniqueness and inclusiveness (involving others) of the nominee's contributions and commitments
Their leadership role in the community or organization; and
The challenges and/or barriers the nominee had to overcome in order to achieve their goal.
