Purpose
To showcase the talents of local amateur artists in the south east and to help others gain appreciation for culture.
Vision
People in the south east will have an increased appreciation of art, thereby renewing a sense of pride in local culture.

Categories
- Are up to the discretion of the host
- One category must include the People’s Choice event
Program Details:
(the program is flexible for the host community)
- Hosted by Estevan and Weyburn annually
- Host chooses when the event will take place
- Host decides the number of pieces each artist may submit to the exhibit and determines what types of art can be submitted. (Example: handicrafts, paintings, drawings, sculptures, etc.)
- Host displays submitted art in a location accessible to public and where there is someone to watch over the art. (Examples: public library, town office, local business, etc.) Host decides the duration of the display (can be a weekend event or can be as long as a month)
- Public views the art and casts their “vote” – host decides if they want just 1st place or have 1st, 2nd, 3rd places.
- Host to award chosen artist with prize – host’s discretion regarding prize. (Example – cash, plaques for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place) A small banquet or reception can also be held.
Suggestions:
- To recognize People’s Choice (Artist) with award at major function - possibly Closing Ceremonies of Winter Games, Heritage Days, or Grand Openings.
- Publicity of event is essential to public turnout. Host may have to make personal contact with artists in the region.
Southeast Connection Responsibilities:
- Southeast Connection provides up to a $300 grant to help with costs incurred in hosting the event.
- Southeast Connection will assist with promotion of the event (weekly news column, mail outs, etc.)
